Dapper Laughs and the quest for bants

In a modern day rebellion, much like Miley Cyrus shaking off her Disney Club credentials by dry-humping Robin Thicke, dressed in Masterplast – it seems we have waved goodbye to the gentleman in exchange for a misogynous, overly tanned, Lynx Africa wearing counterpart, otherwise known as the ‘lad.’

One fine example of this phenomenon is Dapper Laughs. Neither Dapper or able to stimulate any form of reaction that could otherwise be described as a ‘laugh’ from anyone with half a brain-cell, this so-called comedian makes a living out of being quasi racist, homophobic and telling all woman they’re “proper moist.”

Dapper Laughs, who was recently banned from a university after a petition was circulated to cancel his appearance, is now facing a fresh campaign to axe his ITV2 show “On the Pull” after footage was released of him telling an audience member at his London show, that she is “gagging for a rape.”

When UsVsThem writer Abi Wilkinson voiced her opinion on the Dapper Laughs Christmas album ‘a proper naughty Christmas’ via twitter, she was met with a torrent of abuse (banter) from Dapper himself, and his like-minded fans:

What is particularly dangerous about this new age of lad culture, is that it glamourises sexual assault and harassment, making it ‘the norm’ for those who were born without a moral compass, or for those who have misplaced it after too many Stella’s at China Whites.

Any who disagree with Dapper Laughs’ rape quips or comments, such as “Get your arm swing just right when you’re walking and you occasionally touch a bit of m**** by ‘mistake’, they love it, are automatically accused of being ‘uptight,’ a ‘sket’ or even a ‘slag’ (no I don’t understand the logic behind this particular insult either…)

Upon receiving a backlash regarding a new series of ‘On the Pull,’ – ITV have dubbed Dapper Laughs as ‘respectful’ and neither sexist or degrading to Women; stating that the show is “firmly based on treating women with respect and speaking to them in the right way” – because, you know, “it’s only rape if she’s more attractive than you!”

Over 50,000 people have already signed a petition for the show to be axed, click here to add your signature.
