So, my name is Tristen and I am a twenty-something year old writer from London. My name itself seems to be a surprisingly high first hurdle for many, often resulting in me receiving emails with informal greetings, such as “Alright fella?” “How’s it going mate?” and “Hey dude.” I also seem to be the target market for male sex toys and men’s underwear, to the point where I’ve even started questioning my own identity.
Back in 2006, I studied Journalism and immediately went into something else. Radio. I found my voice at Total Rock, where I presented with my co-host Chevy B, interviewing the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Courtney Love, The Kooks, Green Day, The Ting Tings and celebrity chef, Gizzi Erskine. After several fun-filled years, we flew the nest and I went on to host by myself on NME Radio and Westside 89.6FM. I also did several guest spots on Radio X (formerly XFM), BBC Introducing and the Westside 89.6FM review show.
In 2010, I decided to pick my pen (laptop) back up and completed editorial work experience with a variety of women’s media titles, such as Closer, Heat, More, Sugarscape and InStyle, before embarking on a freelance career. Since then, I have contributed to the likes of Company, Cosmopolitan, Elite Daily, Flavour Mag, The Guardian, Huffington Post UK, Independent and Metro, to name a few.
I enjoy writing passive aggressive lists, observational comedy, dating features, lifestyle features, reviews and deeply personal ‘real life’ stories. I don’t believe that there is such a thing as over-sharing.
Here are some recent examples of my work:
